Transportation Infrastructure Funding

Congestion costs us all. Time spent in traffic keeps us away from spending time with family and friends. It costs Ontario’s economy $11B in lost productivity in the GTA alone and contributes to increased carbon emissions. Efficient funding is the lifeline of progress. ORBA highlights the economic impact of congestion and the necessity of multimodal transportation funding. Our successful collaborations demonstrate the power of strategic investment, with every dollar spent yielding significant returns. Stay up to date with our communications.

Environmental

ORBA is dedicated to implementing sustainable environmental practices at all levels of operation. We understand the importance of sustainability as it not only ensures the longevity of our industry, but also ensures a safe environment for future generations. In the drive towards decarbonization, ORBA leads the way in sustainable transportation infrastructure. From utilizing Recycled Aggregate to Decarbonizing Plants and Fleets, we're not just meeting municipal sustainability goals - we're setting new standards. Join us in this green journey. Labour

The Canadian construction industry is undergoing one of its most dramatic shifts, which will require cooperation from ORBA and its members to ease the load as nearly 250,000 positions need to be filled. Building the future starts with the right people. ORBA is at the forefront of attracting and training top talent in transportation infrastructure. With initiatives like the ORBA Road Building Academy and partnerships enhancing foreign temp visas, we're shaping a skilled workforce for tomorrow's challenges. Click for more information.

Safety

Safety in the construction industry is a consistent issue. It is essential that all work sites follow proper guidelines. Additionally, sites must provide adequate resources to aid in the epidemic of substance use in the industry. At ORBA, our commitment extends beyond labour development to nurturing a culture of safety in the industry. We empower our members with knowledge and skills through informative webinars, hybrid courses on critical topics like Naloxone training and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and by hosting top speakers at our events. By focusing on both attracting talent and enhancing workplace safety, we're building a more resilient and inclusive future for Ontario's transportation infrastructure.

Capital Transparency

ORBA engages in regular conversations with the Ministry of Transportation’s Operations Division, which manages the road maintenance program. Transparency and fairness from this sector remain one of ORBA’s top concerns. Mitigating risk in an unpredictable market is key. ORBA addresses the challenges of hyperinflation and material volatility, advocating for solutions like a steel index. We aim to streamline procurement and resolve conflicts, ensuring stable and efficient project delivery. Be a part of the conversation, and join one of our committees.
