National Day of Mourning

The National Day of Mourning, or Workers’ Mourning Day, is observed in Canada on the 28th of April.

Each year, we remember and commemorate the thousands of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents.

On April 28 at 11:00 AM, please take a moment of silence to honour those workers and their families and friends who have been deeply affected by these tragedies. By working together – with employers, workers and our health and safety partners – we can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.

WSIB Ontario is hosting a ceremony to honour all who have suffered a workplace death, injury or illness, and show our support for their families, friends and colleagues whose lives have been changed by these devastating occurrences. In sharing their stories, they renew our commitment to making our workplaces healthy and safe and preventing these tragedies from happening to others.

The ceremony will be held online on Wednesday, April 28 at 10:45 AM. Please click here for more information
