ADVOCACY
CURRENT ISSUES
The Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) is the leading advocate of Ontario’s transportation infrastructure industry. Together, our members build a majority of provincial and municipal roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure, employing upwards of 56,000 workers during the peak construction season. ORBA is committed to supporting the industry by tackling prominent issues within the road building sector.
Please browse the information below to find out more about ORBA’s current advocacy efforts.

CAPITAL TRANSPARENCY
ORBA maintains current information regarding the Ministry of Transportation’s capital pipeline through regular meetings with the Minister’s Office and Ministry senior staff. ORBA also receives updated information regarding MTO pipeline transparency and biannual capital projections.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
ORBA engages in regular conversations with the Ministry of Transportation’s Operations Division, which manages the road maintenance program. Transparency and fairness remain some of ORBA’s top concerns. Many of our members participate in both the capital and maintenance aspects of the road building market.

ENVIRONMENT
ORBA members are dedicated to implementing sustainable and accountable environmental best practices at all levels of operation. ORBA is involved in several joint-industry working groups on issues such as excess soil, ECAs, asphalt, and erosion and sedimentation.
