Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) provides opportunities for employers, individually or in groups, to invest in their workforce, with help from the government. The Canada-Ontario Job Grant program provides direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their employees. Funding is available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees. Member companies are encouraged to apply for funding through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant program. All Academy courses are eligible for funding. Employers are eligible for up to $10,000 in government support per person for training cost.
There are over 300 agencies across the province who administer the program for the government. They are available to help you apply for funding and answer questions about the program. Click the Support Service link to find the nearest agency near you.
- Need to ensure that training has to be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.
- Employers with 100 or more employees need to contribute 1/2 of the training cost, while employers with less than 100 employees need to contribute 1/6 of the training cost.
- Employer groups that want to apply for training supports, the government offers a Canada-Ontario Job Grant Consortium Stream. It allows a group of employers (at least 2 or more employers) to pool their resources to support common training objectives and goals. In order to apply as a consortium, the intermediary organization needs to ensure that all participating employers and trainees meet the COJG requirements, and are able to make their required contribution towards the training cost.
- 15% of the approved COJG ministry contribution will be granted to the intermediary organization to cover the administrative cost relating to the completion of the consortium application.
If you’re an employer with a particular skills demand, the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) might be the program for you. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
