Driver nailed in Chatham construction zone

On June 9th, 2016, at 10:57 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol, on Highway 401 near Harwich Road when he observed a vehicle committing a traffic violation in the Construction Zone.

The vehicle used the paved shoulder to pass a Coco Paving Safety Vehicle which was conducting a traffic slowdown, to allow workers to safely enter the live lane to make urgent repairs to an expansion joint on the CSX overpass. The vehicle then continued through the construction zone above the posted 80 km/hr speed limit.
