The Canada-Ontario Job Grant program provides direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their employees. Funding is available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees. Member companies are encouraged to apply for funding through the Canada-Ontario Job Grant program. The program funds two-thirds of a worker’s eligible training costs, up to a maximum of $10,000. All Academy courses are eligible for funding. Meeting all eligibility requirements does not necessarily guarantee funding.
There are over 300 agencies across the province who administer the program for the Government. They are available to help you apply for funding and answer questions about the program. The agency decides whether an employer receives funding for applications with training for less than 25 staff. Click the Support Service link to find the nearest agency near you.
- Funds are allocated by the Government to each agency. If you do not receive funding, you may want to contact another agency who have available funds.
- Applications for 25 staff or more go directly to the Government for review. You may want to cap your application at 24.
- Tier 1 (see Assessment Tool) applications are the highest priority. If you have submitted an application within the past 6 months, additional applications are moved to Tier 2 which are less likely to receive funding. You may want to “batch” your staff training and submit a comprehensive application which will qualify under Tier 1.
